Nintendo is embarking on a promotional tour for the Switch 2. With the console now officially announced, the next anticipated inquiry—beyond the launch game lineup—is the release date. Although Nintendo has not disclosed a specific date for the console’s availability, the company is providing an opportunity for the public to preview it through a series of live events held globally. Here are the essential details for those interested in experiencing the Switch 2.
The Switch 2 will be showcased in several North American cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Toronto. For precise dates and locations, please refer to Nintendo’s official website. Additionally, events will take place across Europe and Asia, with registration already open for the London and Tokyo events. However, securing an opportunity to play the console is not as straightforward as simply arriving and waiting in line; a registration process is required, and submission does not guarantee entry.
To participate, each attendee must possess a Nintendo account, applicable to individuals aged seven years and older. Those without an account can create one at no cost, and minors can be included under a Nintendo family account. Children under the age of seven are exempt from registration.
For families or groups wishing to attend together, all participants must have Nintendo accounts linked to a Nintendo Family group, and all members must register for the same session.
Registration will commence on Friday, January 17th, at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET and will conclude on January 26th. While tickets are complimentary, they will be allocated via a lottery system, akin to Nintendo’s admission process for its museum. After registering, participants will await further communication. Each day features multiple hour-long sessions, but individuals may only register for one time slot. Attempting to register for additional slots will necessitate the cancellation of the initial registration.
The website does not specify the timeline for notifying participants regarding their selection; however, notifications are expected shortly after the registration period ends.
Given Nintendo’s reputation, interest is anticipated to be substantial. If you are keen to experience the Switch 2 ahead of its official release, we wish you the best of luck.
